Edmonton... Approximately 6,300 undersubscribed Special Walleye Licences are still available for Alberta anglers at Pigeon Lake (near Edmonton), Wolf Lake (near Bonnyville), and Lake Newell (near Brooks), through the Special Walleye Licence program. These will be available for reservation by phone, starting May 2 at 8:15 a.m.
The licences can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available through May 26. An angler can reserve a walleye licence by phoning the reservation support line at 1-900-451-3729 ($1.25 per minute). Anglers must be prepared to enter their Wildlife Identification Number, which can be purchased at any licence issuer, and the draw code for the lake and class of walleye desired.
The breakdown of the remaining licences is as follows:
* Class A, two walleye larger than 50 cm; Lake Newell: 1,089 licences
available;
* Class B, three walleye 43 cm to 50 cm; Lake Newell: 389 licences
available; and
* Class C, three walleye smaller than 43 cm; Pigeon Lake: 4,522
